The Art of Writing Program is an after-school program intended to spread the love of writing in middle- and high-school classrooms. This year, the program is hosted by W.F. Burns Middle School in Valley, Alabama, and is team-taught by Ms. Whitney Reed, a W.F. Burns teacher, and Ms. Emma Bolden, a poet who teaches English at Auburn University. This program/project is the result of a partnership between the Sun Belt Writing Project and the Alabama Writers’ Forum, and has been made possible by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities at Auburn University, and the Sun Belt Writing Project at Auburn University.
